NFL Patriots at Colts should live up to the hype

By Ozzie | November 1, 2007

I know that everybody and their daddy is talking about the big game this weekend, but rightfully so.  The New England Patriots(8-0) and the Indianapolis Colts(7-0), are by far the two best teams in the league and have had classic playoff match-ups in the recent past.  As sports fans, this is the type of game that we live for.  It’s rare in the NFL regular season to see two teams both at their peaks facing off in a playoff type atmosphere.

The last two times the Patriots visited the RCA Dome, they got off to a great start and had a comfortable lead at the half.  They have been blowing out their opponents in the first half and the difference this year is that they aren’t taking their foot off the gas in the second half.  The odds-makers have the Patriots as a touchdown favorite, but this game will be much closer because of the two equally explosive offenses.  That is why I think this will be a very high scoring event.  Even if one team jumps in front early, both quarterbacks(Brady & Manning future hall of famers) are fully capable of leading their offenses back.  I suggest you gamblers out there to stay away from picking a winner in this one and just sit back and enjoy the game.  If you can’t take it, just do some analysis in the first half and drop a halftime bet.

Look for Brady and the Pats to come back to earth this sunday. I can’t see another 5, 6 touchdown game from Brady especially against the Colts new and improved defense. They rank #2 in points allowed, allowing only 102 points in 7 games the only team thats allowed less are the steelers. The Patriots also have a stingy defense allowing 127 points in 8 games. This game goes either way by a field goal or two. Have the Pizza & Beer ready cause it’s gunna be a dandy.

This game is going to be a chess match. You have two very balanced offenses going at it and each one is going to try and exploit the other ones weakness. The two teams being undefeated shows they dont have many weaknesses…So What i do know is that New England has given up just 87.0 rushing yards per game, but that’s because opponents have been forced to abandon the run after falling well behind. Though it’s hard to find a weakness on the Patriots, their run defense has shown some holes, giving up 4.2 yards per carry this season and allowing 179 rushing yards and three TDs to winless Miami two weeks ago. So look for the colts to try and establish the run early and gain control of the game. On the other hand Patriots havent forgot about last years loss to them even if they are behing at halftime they wont because now they have the weapons to come back. They will win this game…. 34- 20
