NCAA Football “Shake-up Saturday”
By Ozzie | November 30, 2007
The continuing theme this college football season has been, ranked teams playing musical chairs with the top two spots in the BCS rankings. Just as I predicted earlier this season, we are going to be left with a lot of one-loss teams trying to state their case as championship contenders against other one-loss teams. This season will put more pressure on the BCS committee to come up with a playoff system to determine who truly deserves to be crowned as national champs.
There should be another shake-up in the top 10 this weekend, with some teams still having to play their conference championship game. Virginia Tech and Southern California, will both try to win big Saturday to boost their BCS stock. Hawaii can finish the season the only undefeated team with a win at home against Washington, and then they should be considered for a BCS bowl. Georgia is stuck at #4 after finishing all their regular season games, and probably won’t move up. That leaves us with Missouri and West Virginia as the top 2 teams, with both teams controlling their own destiny this weekend. I expect that Missouri will have the tougher task and will fall from the #1 spot this weekend after losing the Big 12 Championship to Oklahoma. Well without further ado, here are my picks for this weekend:
Central Michigan -3
Navy -14
Central Florida -8
Virginia Tech -5
Nevada Reno -7
LSU -7
USC -21
Cal -13.5
BYU -16
West Virginia -28
Arizona +7
Oklahoma -3
Washington +14
