NCAA Football Tim Tebow is my Heisman pick
By Ozzie | December 5, 2007
The finalist will be announced today for the Heisman trophy presentation in New York. My pick to win the award is Tim Tebow, the second-year quarterback from Florida. He showed tremendous ability this season by scoring his touchdowns both in the air and on the ground. Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to run for at least 20 touchdowns (29) and pass for at least 20 touchdowns (22) in the same season. He eclipsed the school’s single-season record for total offense with 3,970 yards, and he broke the Southeastern Conference’s single-season record for rushing touchdowns.
If Dennis Dixon hadn’t been injured, it might have been a close race. Dixon had similar statistics as Tebow, and was about to lead his team to a title game before being injured. I think it would be appropriate to invite Dixon to the presentation as one of the finalists.

Hopefully his NFL career will prosper more fortuitously than recent recepients at his position. Only 1 of 6 former Heisman winning qb’s, from the year 2000 to present, currently start on an NFL team (Carson Palmer).
